According to reports, the German Ministry of the Environment stated that Tesla has received permission from the Brandenburg State Environmental Office to expand the Berlin Super Factory.

According to the Finance and Economics APP, the German Ministry of the Environment stated that Tesla (TSLA.US) has received permission from the Brandenburg State Environmental Office to expand the Berlin Super Factory. After obtaining approval, Tesla can start construction ahead of schedule.

The German Ministry of the Environment pointed out that early construction involves building an asphalt logistics area for new cars, building underground pipelines and stairs, and installing roof solar panels. Media reports said German Chancellor Scholz expressed support for the expansion of the Berlin Super Factory.

It is reported that the approval of the expansion of the Berlin Super Factory is expected to pave the way for increased automotive production for the factory. The expansion of the Berlin Super Factory is expected to increase its annual output from the current 0.5 million to 1 million vehicles. However, Tesla's approved expansion only allows the company to expand its existing Super Factory facilities, and its plans to clear trees to make way for additional logistics space still require approval.

In early June, Tesla announced that its Berlin Super Factory in Germany would be shut down for a total of 5 days in June, with shutdown dates on June 7, 14, 17, 27, and 28, 2024. Tesla stated that this is a regular operation of production and operation and is not abnormal.

It is worth noting that this is already the fourth shutdown of the Tesla Berlin factory in nearly half a year. In January of this year, due to the interruption of the supply chain caused by the Red Sea Crisis, Tesla announced that its Berlin factory will suspend most of its car production work from January 29th to February 11th. Two months later, the Berlin factory had to shut down for nearly a week due to the power outage caused by environmental protesters setting fire. On May 8th, the Tesla Berlin factory announced another 4-day shutdown, mainly related to the local people's demonstration against Tesla's expansion. Including the June shutdown notice, the Tesla Berlin factory has already shut down four times in half a year.

Regarding the recent shutdown, some analysts pointed out that it was Tesla's proactive reduction of production due to high inventory. While facing local protests, the world's largest electric car manufacturer also has to face the reality of weak growth.
