The new Galaxy watch will track users' Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) index, which can serve as an indicator of metabolic health and biological age.
The Korean technology giant has dubbed this event as the next frontier in Galaxy AI. In addition to the new foldable phone and Galaxy Ring health tracker, Samsung is also expected to launch an Ultra version aimed at competing with the $799 Apple Watch Ultra 2.
As a high-end product of 2019, Samsung is in a leading position in the field of foldable smartphones, but the company's phones have not made progress in China, the world's largest smartphone market.
Research firm Canalys said that by 2023, foldable phone shipments will reach 17.5 million units, and Samsung will occupy 63% of the market share. Samsung is expected to unveil a new version of flip and larger foldable models at tomorrow's Paris event.
For years, Samsung and Apple have been working on developing sustainable blood glucose tracking sensors, which are a great benefit to diabetic patients. Hon Pak, Samsung's mobile digital health director, said,"AGEs readers already exist in larger hardware, and now we are miniaturizing them, enabling blood glucose measurement through smartwatches for the first time. "
This technology is seen as a breakthrough in the development of non-invasive continuous blood glucose monitoring devices.
To enable more complex measurements, Samsung has added more colors of LEDs to illuminate blood vessels and obtain wearers' health information. In addition, the new watch can also measure heart rate during high-intensity exercise, with an improved accuracy of 30%.
Before Samsung's event, Apple will make a major upgrade to its Apple Watch portfolio to celebrate the device's tenth anniversary.
