S&P 500, Nasdaq Climb to Highs Tuesday at Noon While Powell Testifies

As a general recap, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 indexes hit a fresh all-time high Tuesday after open, while investors watched Federal Reserve President Jerome Powell make remarks in front of a Senate Panel in Washington DC.

Shortly after 12:19 pm EST, the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ climbed 0.25%, the   $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ was falling 0.06%, and the    $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ reached fresh highs as well, up just 0.25%.

In macroeconomics this week, investors can watch for CPI data on Thursday, expected at 3.1% and Core at 3.4%. PPI comes out Friday, expected at 0.2% core. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said he would like more data supporting rate cuts, but the Fed is keeping its options open.
