The US stock market is mixed. The Dow average closed at 39,291.97 dollars, down 52.82 dollars, and the NASDAQ closed 25.55 points higher at 18,429.29. The wait-and-see attitude intensified ahead of Federal Reserve Chairman Powell's congressional testimony, and after they snuggled up, things were mixed. Since the chairman mentioned in his testimony that a slowdown in the economy and labor market can be seen in recent data, the Dow turned downward due to a sense of caution. High-tech purchases continued on the NASDAQ, remained steady, hit record highs for 6 consecutive days, and ended in mixed situations.

The dollar and yen fell to 160 yen 91 yen in the New York foreign exchange market on the 9th, then rose to 161 yen 52 yen, and closed at 161 yen 30 yen. Chairman Powell of the Federal Reserve (Fed) repeated the policy of deciding policies at each meeting depending on economic data in his testimony at the Senate Banking Committee, and since interest rate cuts were not clarified, early interest rate cut observations receded, spurring dollar purchases. After that, 3-year bond tenders were strong and growth was sluggish. The euro dollar rose to 1.0828 dollars, then fell to 1.0806 dollars and closed at 1.0815 dollars.

NY crude oil futures continued to decline for the 8-month period (NYMEX crude oil 8-month closing price: 81.41 ↓ 0.92).
