Rakuten Group Co., Ltd.'s ("Rakuten") content label, Rakuten Content Central, which develops intellectual property (IP) from development to comprehensive content production, has decided to produce its first original novel, "Jumping with the Night." This work is a sports youth novel with skateboarding as its theme, jointly produced by Rakuten and Straight Edge Co., Ltd. The novel will be released on July 19th, 2019 at bookstores nationwide, and Rakuten-operated online bookstore "Rakuten Books" will sell products with a limited benefit of "one postcard" (note 1). The second volume is scheduled to be released this winter.

This work is a sports youth novel with skateboarding as its theme, jointly produced by Rakuten and Straight Edge Co., Ltd. and co-produced by the Rakuten Group and Straight Edge Co., Ltd. who conducted joint production with skateboarding company Straight Edge. The work is written by Mirai Noka, who won the Matsumoto Seicho Prize and was involved in the production of popular works such as "The Demon King of Job Change," which was made into a television drama. The novel will be released on July 19th this year at bookstores nationwide, and Rakuten-operated online bookstore "Rakuten Books" will sell products with a limited benefit of "one postcard" (note 1). The second volume is scheduled to be released this winter.

Additionally, Rakuten Sports, which expands its sports business globally including athlete support, will be conducting promotions related to this work with the theme of skateboarding at the skateboarding event "UPRISING SPARK Supported by Rakuten" on August 24th (Sat) at the "Prefectural Tenjin Chuo Park" in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture (note 2). Moving forward, Rakuten Content Central aims to further enhance the development and utilization of IP content, utilizing the accumulated knowledge of the content business to provide a variety of services that IP content produces.
