Macy's (M.US) announced the launch of its summer promotion on Wednesday, joining other major retailers in attracting customers through seasonal promotions. The largest department store chain in the United States announced that it will hold its first 'All-Star Week' event from July 16 to 23. Macy's said the promotion will bring thousands of summer's best deals and offer more exclusive offers to members of its Star Rewards program.
As Macy's launches its promotion, competitors are stepping up their summer promotion plans. Macy's 'All-Star Week' event will coincide with Amazon's (AMZN.US) two-day shopping festival, Prime Day. Target's (TGT.US) 'Target Circle Week' and Walmart's (WMT.US) 'Walmart Deals' promotions have already started, but both will end this week.
As of Wednesday's close, Macy's fell 0.26% to $18.82 and the stock has fallen nearly 5% this year.
