ANA Akindo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuzo Hara; hereinafter 'ANA Akindo') has implemented the 'ANA Local Specialty Project' in collaboration with Hakuhodo Inc. from 2021, with the aim of developing and selling specialty products with local business operators nationwide. The product structure has operating income of ¥401 million, ¥1.288 billion and ¥60 million for 10-30 billion yen products, respectively.
As a new initiative this year, ANA Akindo will sell and promote the developed specialty products through AKOMEYA TOKYO Co., Ltd. (※1).
In the future, we will promote the expansion of sales of developed specialty products by combining the network of local business operators in ANA Akindo's 33 branches nationwide, Hakuhodo Inc.'s track record and branding power in developing specialty products, and AKOMEYA TOKYO Co., Ltd.'s expertise as a select shop for food that has been nurtured for more than 10 years.

First initiative

  • Overview: Under the theme 'Good things from remote islands - Taketomi, Ishigaki and Okinawa Exhibition', we will hold an exhibition and sale of islanders' pride in taste from remote islands of Taketomi, Ishigaki and Okinawa.

  • Scheduled products for sale:
    • Crunchy texture, Minesan natural salt-preserved mozuku from Oshima Island
    • Co-developed by Yaeyama Agriculture and Forestry High School and Shimojikoku Sugar Processing Factory, 'Ishigaki Curry Sweet Block/Spicy Keema'
    • Winner of the Yaeyama Soba Championship Grand Prix, retort 'Gyujiru' (beef soup) of Arakawa Shokudo on Ishigaki Island.
    • Patented manufacturing method, 'Kurokoji Junmaisu Shima no Su' (black malt pure rice vinegar), the first in Okinawa.
    • Awamori, aged for 12 years, brewed with Hitomebore rice from Donan Island, the westernmost part of Japan, with an alcohol content of 30%, 'Shima Kome Kusu 30 degrees' (Island Rice Aged Sake)
    • Renewed design, new development. Handmade in remote islands, Okinawa taste 'Specialty Remote Island Convenience, Shikuwasa & Pepper'
  • * As the first test marketing, ANA Akindo and Hakuhodo Inc. will develop and sell specialty products from remote islands with which they are involved in regional revitalization efforts. From the second project onward, we plan to sell and distribute return gifts developed under the ANA Local Specialty Project.

Overview of ANA Local Specialty Project

  • - Working together with local businesses to solve the challenge of developing and expanding specialty products unique to the region.
  • - ANA Akindo will hold seminars by experts from the viewpoints of quality control, design, pricing, and promotion after grasping the materials from discussions with local business owners.
  • - Newly developed goods will be exhibited on ANA's hometown tax payment site and a special page will be established for local municipalities.
  • - The developed goods will also be supported for sale on ANA's platform (*2) and other real and EC sites based on customer requests.
  • - The ANA Local Specialty Project supports the expansion of local businesses as well as contributes to local revitalization by increasing the population of related persons and persons involved in exchange through local specialty products.

    - A lifestyle shop with 24 stores and an online shop in Tokyo, dealing in various types of rice from around Japan, rice dishes that match perfectly with rice, dashi (broth), condiments, dishes, cooking utensils, etc. based on the concept of "a delicious cycle that spreads from a freshly cooked bowl of rice".
