Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) will roll out the updated Zeekr 009 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in Hong Kong next week, marking the first time the electric vehicle (EV) maker will hold a new vehicle launch event outside the Chinese mainland.
On July 19, the all-new Zeekr 009 will be launched globally in Hong Kong, the company announced today.
The six-seater version of the Zeekr 009 will see a full iteration, Zeekr said, adding that it will also launch a new seven-seater model for the MPV.
Initially launched in the Chinese mainland on November 1, 2022, the Zeekr 009 is Zeekr's second model after the Zeekr 001, with deliveries starting in February 2023.
On January 15 of this year, Zeekr rolled the 2024 Zeekr 009.
On April 19, Zeekr launched the Zeekr 009 Grand, making it an all-new model in addition to the regular Zeekr 009 to target luxury market.
The regular Zeekr 009s currently sold in the Chinese mainland are all six-seaters with a starting price of RMB 500,000 ($68,960). The Zeekr 009 Grand is a four-seater with a starting price of RMB 789,000.
The upcoming new Zeekr 009 will be available in both six-seat and seven-seat options, with a 140-kWh battery and a single-motor specification that has the longest range of any pure electric MPV, a Zeekr spokesperson told CnEVPost.
The two variants of the regular Zeekr 009 come with 116-kWh and 140-kWh battery packs with CLTC ranges of 702 km and 822 km, respectively. The Zeekr 009 Grand comes with a 108-kWh battery pack with a CLTC range of 702 km.
For the all-new Zeekr 009, the one with a 108-kWh battery that supports 5C fast charging can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 11.5 minutes, according to the company.
The all-new Zeekr 009 comes standard with dual-chamber air suspension and CCD shock absorbers, and the fastest specification can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The model will be powered by two Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chips with AI voice assistant AI EVA.
MPVs are a niche market in the Chinese mainland, with sales only about a tenth of those of SUVs (sport utility vehicle) or sedan models.
In addition to the Zeekr 009, Zeekr sells the Zeekr 001, Zeekr 007, and Zeekr X. It will launch the Zeekr 7X SUV for the family market later this year.
In the first half of the year, Zeekr sold 87,870 vehicles, up 106.11 percent year-on-year.
The Zeekr 009 sold 2,907 units in the first half of the year, contributing 3.31 percent of Zeekr sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
