Sea Group announced that Natalia Goh has been appointed as the new head of digital banking business in Singapore.

According to the finance and economics app, Sea Group (SE.US) announced that Natalia Goh has been appointed as the new head of digital banking business in Singapore. Prior to this, Goh was the operations director of competitor Trust Bank. Her joining will inject new vitality into Sea Group's expansion in Southeast Asian fintech sector. Specifically, Goh will replace Yu Dong Zheng as the CEO of Sea Group's digital banking brand, MariBank. Mr. Zheng will serve as the company's advisor after serving as CEO for two years. This high-level change has been publicly announced on executives' LinkedIn pages.

The competition in the Southeast Asian digital banking market is intensifying, and new players like MariBank are in fierce competition with old banks in the region, vying for over 0.65 billion increasingly tech-savvy consumers. MariBank's main competitors include Trust Bank, a subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank, and GXS Bank, jointly owned by Grab Holdings Ltd. and Singapore Telecommunications Limited.

As Sea Group's gaming revenue fluctuates, the digital banking division is becoming an important pillar of the company's business expansion. At the same time, its e-commerce platform Shopee continues to be the main source of revenue for the group.

Natalia Goh's joining, with her rich experience as managing director of Standard Chartered Bank and head of credit cards and unsecured loans at Trust Bank in addition to her outstanding performance as chief operating officer since joining Trust Bank in 2022, will undoubtedly bring new perspectives and momentum to MariBank.

After completing his tenure as MariBank CEO, Yu Dong Zheng will provide valuable advisory services to Sea Group. Prior to this, he not only led the SeaMoney digital banking business, but also served as the head of investment strategy and consulting at Standard Chartered Bank, accumulating profound industry insights.
