A number of Alamo Group Inc. (NYSE:ALG) insiders sold their shares in the last year, which may have raised concerns among investors. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, shareholders should take a deeper look if several insiders are selling stock over a specific time period.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Alamo Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Executive Vice-President of Industrial Equipment Division, Michael Haberman, sold US$398k worth of shares at a price of US$225 per share. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$173. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Alamo Group shares, than buying. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!
