Cybertruck ranked as the best-selling car with a price above 0.1 million USD in June.

According to Cox Automotive's data, Tesla's Cybertruck (TSLA.US) significantly narrowed the gap with Ford's (F.US) F-150 Lightning in the second quarter, with 850 more units sold than F-150 Lightning. It was reported that Cybertruck was the best-selling car with a price above 0.1 million USD in June, with an average transaction price of 112,696 USD.

In the first half of this year, Ford sold approximately 15,645 Ford-150 Lightning vehicles, and Tesla ranked second with 11,558 Cybertrucks sold, easily surpassing the sales of 6,570 Rivian R1T (RIVN.US) and 4,597 GMC Hummer trucks. Rivian's manufacturing facility temporarily closing down was also a factor. F-150 Lightning is a pure electric pickup truck developed by Ford.

Stephanie Valdez Striet, head of Cox Automotive, said: 'In the second quarter, Cybertruck sold 8,755 units, which was an impressive performance and an outstanding achievement in the electric truck market.' She pointed out the impact of bookings and suppressed demand, and warned that assessing sustained performance is critical to the long-term success of this model.

InsidEVs emphasized that the situation for electric trucks is still complicated, and their sales are far behind those of electric cars and hybrid models. Expensive price tag and limited production capacity are considered as factors that suppress demand compared to conventional fuel trucks used for heavy-duty towing and transportation.
