Hitachi Ltd. (hereinafter, Hitachi) today announced the launch of "Professional Services Utilizing Creating AI Powered by Lumada" to support customers who promote management reforms such as business efficiency and service enhancement using Creating AI. The company will provide support as a running mate, using the knowledge and technology of Creating AI utilization in AI transformation that Hitachi has been promoting throughout the company, including rich knowledge and technology in Creating AI utilization since the establishment of the Generative AI Center*1, and the results through strategic alliances*2 with GlobalLogic, a global advanced technology and technology partner. From introducing to utilizing Creating AI and nurturing personnel who support value creation.
This service consists of seven service menus to address challenges and needs that customers are likely to face when introducing Creating AI into their business. This service is designed to support the total process from the introduction of Creating AI to its use and the fostering of personnel who support value creation, leveraging knowledge such as improving employee utilization, increasing the accuracy of Creating AI responses, and nurturing Creating AI human resources obtained from verification of approximately 1,000 use cases in various fields, including finance, manufacturing, railroads, energy, etc. based on the environment, such as guidelines for business use and a common platform for Creating AI, which has been promoted by Hitachi. The company will contribute to customers' management reforms while accompanying them on necessary measures to take to realize the effects of Creating AI, such as creating use cases and evaluating and verifying optimal models and services of Creating AI.

In the future, Generative AI Center, including a data scientist or an AI researcher with abundant knowledge and high technical capabilities, who specialize in Creating AI, and various professionals such as engineers or consultants familiar with Generating AI and domain experts with expertise in IT and OT, will work together to provide the service in a team of hundreds of people. This will allow them to create use cases and optimize the effects of Creating AI to contribute to customer management reforms, all the while accompanying them on necessary measures.

This service provides comprehensive technical support aimed at practical use of Creating AI in business and operation. It supports the creation of use cases based on customers' business processes, selection and specification of optimal use cases, and verification of use case feasibility through the development of prototypes via the "use case feasibility verification service." It also supports the development and testing of applications that incorporate Creating AI into business processes, such as designing and examining the specifications of the relevant systems and collaboratively designing systems via the "Creating AI application development support service."

Examples of Challenges and Needs

This service is composed of seven service menus to address challenges and needs that customers are likely to face when introducing Creating AI into their business.
1. Generating use cases that take customers' challenges into account to support the introduction of Creating AI based on customers' business processes

By quarantining the effects of practical introduction, it becomes possible to plan the optimal introduction strategy of Creating AI.
Regarding the verification of the effects of Creating AI introduction, Lumada Solution Hub's service menu "Generating AI Trial Environment Provision Service" is used to quickly and securely test the effects of Creating AI, using the optimal LLM*4 based on customers' business and system specifications.

In terms of practical use of Creating AI, this service provides technical support that is comprehensive and can withstand actual working conditions. They will use an environment for Creating AI common base construction and business use guidelines that have been promoted by Hitachi to promote Creating AI in the IT/OT (operation technology) business lines to improve productivity using Creating AI. These efforts have been leveraged in cooperation with a wide range of customers such as finance, manufacturing, railroads, and energy, and approximately 1,000 use cases have been verified. This service strengthens the ability to introduce Creating AI into organizations. Hitachi will support personnel development who can utilize Creating AI and provide a practical approach to use it, improving employee utilization and the accuracy of Creating AI, among other things.


To improve the accuracy of AI-generated responses, it is necessary to provide a proprietary knowledge database to the AI and build a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) that returns more accurate responses using various technologies. Designing and implementing a high-precision RAG that goes through multiple phases using various technologies requires a wide range of technical expertise and knowledge. Therefore, we provide 'RAG Assessment Service' to evaluate and verify language models and propose the optimal language model from various language models, and support the improvement of AI accuracy by tuning RAG according to your use case through 'RAG Tuning Support Service'. Furthermore, with 'Data Reading Support Service', it is possible to convert documents, including charts, into text that can be read by the AI, which supports the utilization of your data.

3. Supporting the development of professional personnel for AI-generated responses.

Hitachi plans to train over 0.05 million 'GenAI Professionals' via its global training program, which plays an important role in supporting customers' AI-driven transformation. With such in-house training know-how, we offer 'Personnel Development Support Service' to support the training of engineers who have skills for generating AI for customers who are considering internalizing the application of generating AI to their operations.
Specifically, we provide a training program that can learn prompt engineering and RAG construction skills through training and OJT. By enabling customers to use generated AI themselves, they can achieve continuous business improvement and innovation and improve the entire organization's ability to use generated AI.

Based on the results of this demonstration, Hitachi High-Tech and Hitachi will collaborate with various stakeholders such as material manufacturers including Sekisui Chemical to develop a more user-friendly environment and challenge One Hitachi to commercialize services using this system in Fiscal Year 2025. After the service is commercialized, Hitachi High-Tech will use its broad distribution network as a sales agent to expand to domestic and overseas product and material manufacturers. Companies (buyers and sellers) that participate in this business are being asked to join. Hitachi will work with Hitachi High-Tech and Sekisui Chemical to promote system development toward commercialization. Sekisui Chemical will continue to actively promote initiatives toward achieving a circular economy in 2050 by collaborating with Hitachi High-Tech and Hitachi.

Hitachi will continue to enhance 'Generated AI Utilization Professional Service powered by Lumada' through co-creation with customers to accurately understand challenges and needs. Furthermore, we are working on building a generated AI ecosystem by forming strategic alliances with world-leading technology partners such as NVIDIA, which has advanced AI software GPU technology, and Microsoft, Google Cloud, and Amazon Web Service, which provide generated AI technology and cloud services, and jointly carrying out technology verification and service development.
Furthermore, we utilize Hitachi's generated AI common platform based on the 'Platform of Platforms,' which integrates generated AI both inside and outside the company and AI solutions. By incorporating knowledge and practical know-how from OT in addition to IT, we can leverage generated AI to improve frontline workers' work, such as business process improvement and technology and knowledge transfer and contribute to solving the shortage of human resources issue caused by the declining birthrate and aging population.
