Bursa Malaysia finished lower on the first trading day of the week as investors took profits from recent gains, aligning with the overall downturn in regional markets.
By the close of trading at 5 p.m., the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell by 14.48 points, or 0.89%, settling at 1,622.07, down from Friday's close of 1,636.55. The index initially opened at 1,637.12, its highest point for the day, but subsequently declined to an intraday low of 1,616.74 before the lunch break.
On the broader market, 1,731 stocks traded, 285 advanced, 1,044 declined, 404 remained unchanged, and 715 were untraded.
