Among the top 100 supermarkets, there are 13 companies with sales of more than 10 billion yuan, including seven companies with sales of more than 50 billion yuan. Walmart (China) achieved sales of 120.2 billion yuan in 2023, ranking first among the top 100 supermarkets.

In first- and second-tier cities, sales and store numbers of membership stores and discount stores increased significantly. Representative companies include Walmart, Carrefour, Yaodi, Hotebuy, Ole, Hi-Chain, etc.
Nearly half of the supermarkets have steady business development, some of which are from low-tier regions. Among the top 100 supermarkets in 2023, 44 companies saw a YoY growth in sales, including 27 companies from lower-tier cities. Representative companies include Dazhang, Xinyulu, Buyoute, Huangshang, Shoukang Yongle, etc.
In 2023, among the top 100 supermarkets, 33 companies saw an increase in the number of stores, 20 companies kept the same number of stores, but 47 companies saw a decrease in the number of stores.
