Several Funko Insiders Sell Shares Sending Potential Negative Signal

いくつかのファンコ・インサイダーが株式を売り、潜在的なネガティブシグナルを発信しています

Quite a few Funko, Inc. (NASDAQ:FNKO) insiders sold their shares over the past year, which may be a cause for concern. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Funko Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Steven Nave bought US$303k worth of shares at a price of US$5.45 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$9.07. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Funko shares, than buying. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insiders At Funko Have Sold Stock Recently

Over the last three months, we've seen significant insider selling at Funko. In total, insiders sold US$386k worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. Overall this makes us a bit cautious, but it's not the be all and end all.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Funko insiders own 8.5% of the company, worth about US$39m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
