Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Representative Executive Officer and CEO: Haruo Naito, hereinafter referred to as Eisai) and Eco Navi Star Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Representative Director: Kimoto Watanabe, hereinafter referred to as Eco Navi Star) have concluded a business alliance agreement with a view to creating an ecosystem in the field of dementia, which is an urgent issue in Japan's super-aging society, and have started collaboration.

Eisai, which has been a pioneer in the dementia field for many years with drug development activities and disease awareness activities, and Eco Navi Star, a top runner※1 in the monitoring system for elderly facilities that is SaaS-based and focuses on the caregiving field, will utilize the know-how, technology, and networks of both companies and will promote verification experiments to promote awareness of cognitive function changes in elderly facility residents using Eisai's digital check tool for brain health, "no KNOW", Eco Navi Star's "Life Rhythm Navi", which visualizes changes in health status from sleep and lifestyle data, and the company's patent-pending dementia prediction model (patent number 7017740), etc. (hereinafter referred to as "each product").

In Japan, where the aging population is advancing, many people choose to move into general residential buildings (self-supporting type)※2 for elderly facility residents or senior-oriented condominiums※3 from a relatively healthy state and may stay for a long time. In these residential buildings, care services are not provided in principle, so there are few opportunities for contact with caregiving-related staff, and there is an actual situation where changes in residents' cognitive function are noticed only after mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia has progressed. This verification experiment aims to address such challenges by targeting facilities that have introduced Life Rhythm Navi (up to 200 facilities) and using each product to detect changes in cognitive function in elderly facility residents early and suggest potential discoveries of MCI and dementia. In the future, both companies will also work on joint research aimed at early detection of MCI and dementia in healthy elderly people based on their strengths, and the applicability of dementia prediction models in home care domains.

Eisai's corporate philosophy is "Human Healthcare (hhc)", which considers the joy, anger, sadness, and happiness of patients and people's lives as a top priority and aims to efficiently realize social benefits such as "resolving health concerns" and "correcting medical disparities". Under the mission of "providing health and peace of mind to the future society with sleep analysis technology", Eco Navi Star is developing AI that predicts changes in health status by applying its unique analysis technology to the big data of sleep and lifestyle habits accumulated in the cloud through the service it provides. We are also working to solve social issues in various fields, including the promotion of caregiving DX, by implementing these AIs in various services.

Based on this business alliance agreement, Eisai and Eco Navi Star will contribute to solving social issues through the creation of a dementia ecosystem.

About "no KNOW"

The 'Nou KNOWN' (non-medical device) is a tool developed by Eisai based on the algorithm created by Cogstate Ltd (headquartered in Australia) that uses a simple card game test with a computer, tablet or smartphone to check the brain's reaction speed, attention, visual learning and memory. Users can check themselves in a short time (about 15 minutes) and can perform regular self-checks in daily life, health check-ups, etc. It has been introduced in many health screening facilities, research institutions, local governments, companies and universities.

2. About 'Lifestyle Navigation.'

Lifestyle Navigation is a SaaS-based elderly facility monitoring system based on sleep analysis technology. Using a variety of sensors and equipment that can be installed inside and outside the room, you can monitor your residents' privacy. The acquired data is quantified and iconized in an easy-to-understand manner by our proprietary analysis function, and is displayed on each terminal in real time. At the same time, these data are automatically linked to the care record software. It is evaluated as a service that reduces the burden of work at the site and leads to the provision of high-quality care. The total number of users has exceeded 26,000.

3. About the 'Prediction Model for Dementia.'

The Prediction Model for Dementia is one of the AIs that predicts the trend of health status by analyzing the vast sleep and vital big data possessed by Econavista. It predicts changes in cognitive function by analyzing data for a certain period for the subject.

Specifically, the subject's biological data, including sleep data, is collected and analyzed for a certain period, and after a certain period elapses, similar data is collected and analyzed again. By comparing and analyzing these results, it becomes possible to predict the tendency of the subject's cognitive function to be maintained, improved, degraded, etc.
