Work policies and power saving measures for the summer of 2024

2024/07/25

Nippon Steel Co., Ltd.

Nippon Steel Co., Ltd. (hereafter, Nippon Steel) promotes the realization of healthy, efficient, and creative ways of working, and will implement the following measures at its head office from the viewpoint of reducing energy consumption in summer in consideration of the global environment.
1. Work Policies
We will implement “eco annual leave” as an incentive day to take annual leave. [Continued implementation]
◇A total of 6 days (7/26, 8/9, 8/13, 8/16, 8/23, 8/30) will be recommended days for taking annual leave (in principle, to 3 days off per week), mainly on Fridays from late July to late August.
◇On that day, we will refrain from setting up meetings, etc., so we will create an environment where it is easy for everyone to rest.
◇Even if it is difficult to take annual leave on the day due to business reasons, we will aim to leave the company on time after making business adjustments in advance as much as possible.
2. Energy-saving measures
(1) We will operate air conditioning and turn off lights to support staggered work hours and eco-friendly annual leave. [Continued implementation]
◇Air conditioning operation time 30 minutes ahead of schedule to promote staggered attendance from July to September (starting operation from 8:30 → 8:00)
◇The entire building is turned off all at once at 18:30 on Eco Annual Leave Encouragement Day (air conditioning also ends at 18:30)
(2) As part of power saving measures, we aim to minimize the use of electricity in offices. [Implemented throughout the year]
◇Reduced illuminance throughout the building (700 → 600 rugs)
