On the 24th, the US stock market continued to fall. The Dow fell 504.22 points (-1.25%) to 39,853.87 dollars, the Nasdaq fell 654.94 points (-3.64%) to 17,342.41, and the S&P 500 ended trading at 5,427.13, down 128.61 points (-2.31%). Disappointing earnings from some high-tech companies led to selling that caused a decline after the opening. The global economic indicators were also stagnant, and the domestic new housing sales indicators were also weak, spreading concerns about the economy and remaining weak throughout the day. As the day wore on, stubborn political uncertainty and other factors led to increased closing selling and a widening decline.

The Tokyo market started trading with a selling trend due to the significant decline in major US stock indexes and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Stock Index (SOX Index) falling more than 5% from the previous day. With the addition of a stronger yen and weaker dollar, the Nikkei average fell significantly, with a further decline in the afternoon, breaking the 38,000 yen mark on a closing basis, marking the largest decline of the year.

The Nikkei average at the closing bell was 37,869.51 yen, down 1285.34 yen (-3.28%) from the previous day. Trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime Market was 2.105 billion 15.19 million shares, with trading value of 5 trillion 199.9 billion yen. In terms of industry, electric appliances, securities and commodity futures trading, insurance, machinery, and banking all fell, only air transportation, land transportation, and aquatic and forestry industries rose. Rising stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Prime Market were 16%, while declining stocks were 80%.

SoftBank Group (9984) was the top contributor to the decline, pushing the Nikkei average down by about 190 yen with one stock. Toshiba Electronics (8035) was second, followed by Advantest (6857), First Retailing (9983), Recruit Holdings (6098), TDK (6762), Shin-Etsu Chemical (4063), and others. On the other hand, Bandai Namco Holdings (7832) was the top contributor to the rise, pushing the Nikkei average up by about 3 yen with one stock. Eisai (4523) was second, followed by Nichirei (2871), Ajinomoto (2802), Olympus (7733), Oriental Land (4661), Trend Micro (4704), Sapporo Holdings (2501), Nippon Ham (2282), Nitori Holdings (9843), Astellas Pharma (4503), Nisshin Seifun Group (2002), Yamato Holdings (9064), Asahi Kasei (3407), and others.
