This summer, 110 Best Buy interns are bringing new energy to their teams while gaining valuable career experience.

They come from all over the United States, representing more than 40 colleges and universities. Their school experience ranges from high school to college and graduate-program levels.

The intern program is a chance for Best Buy to invest in early-career talent. Meanwhile, the interns gain valuable experience, helping equip them for post-graduation success.

Most of this year's intern class works a hybrid schedule at Best Buy's corporate headquarters in Richfield, Minnesota, with a small percentage working fully remotely or at our Atlanta hub. About 20% of our interns are current or former Best Buy store or field employees.

Job skills

Our interns have been able to take on a variety of exciting projects this summer, gaining hands-on experience and contributing meaningful work to their teams.

Eve goes to the University of Colorado Boulder and is working with the public relations team. "My experience here at Best Buy has helped me understand the corporate aspect of a PR job," she said. "It's given me firsthand experience, which is something I'll take with me to future jobs."

Keiran attends the College of St. Benedict and has been working in category enablement for the audio team. "I have learned many things, but one skill I'm most proud of learning is the ability to navigate and direct conversations," she said.

The Best Buy experience

Beyond their day-to-day work, our interns have had a variety of opportunities, from networking to professional growth to personal development. Many have been fully immersing themselves in the company's culture, participating in employee resource groups and attending executive speaker events.

"It's really inspiring to see these highly successful executives talking about their journey," said Abdullahi, an intern from the University of Minnesota who also works at a local Best Buy store. He's working with the membership team during his internship. "Seeing them push through struggles makes me work even harder."

The team managing the internship program has been making a strong effort to make this experience fun and engaging for everyone. There have been many fun excursions, such as attending a professional baseball game and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Best Buy creative studio. There has also been a weekly lunch series where interns get to hang out with one another.

Chasen attends Morehouse College and works in a Best Buy store in Atlanta. He has been working with the social impact team and the Best Buy Foundation during his internship. "Coming to Minnesota, I didn't know what to expect," he said. "Everybody here has been extremely nice and outgoing."
