U Mobile and TIME dotCom are partnering to in anticipation for the government's 5G dual network model under the agreement the mobile telco will tap into Time's extensive fibre backhaul network to prepare for its rollout.
The mobile network operator said the collaboration will further strengthens its ability to ensure a superior 5G experience that is
highly reliable, supports massive capacity and delivers ultra-fast speeds. Both parties will work to develop and implement processes and integration strategies to optimise network compatibility and produce high performance for all users, from consumers, enterprises, to public sectors.
"U Mobile has had a long-standing relationship with Time and we are delighted to deepen our cooperation by partnering in anticipation of the accelerated deployment of U Mobile's 5G network under the government's dual network model. By leveraging on Time's extensive fibre backhaul network, U Mobile is not only able to expedite coverage of 5G across Malaysia, we will also be able to deliver a 5G network that features high availability, good resiliency, ultra-low latency and high bandwidth. These performance traits will benefit all users but are especially critical to enable reliable automation and IoT applications across industries," said Woon Ooi Yuen, CTO of U Mobile.
U Mobile currently leverages Time's fibre infrastructure footprint to expand availability of its U Home Fibre product to over 1 million more homes, especially those in high-rise buildings along the Western coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
