Author | Huang Yu Editor | Liu Baodan Last year, thanks to the success of the "Speeding" on iQiyi, the company has had a difficult time recently. On the one hand, the explosively popular TV series is on hiatus, and on the other hand, the derivative concert of the variety show "Plant Some Goodness" has been criticized for "free offline but paid online." According to Wall Street News, the second Wheat Field Music Festival, produced by iQiyi's reality show "Plant Some Goodness," was held on June 6th. Some viewers had previously received free offline tickets through official activities, while online viewers, even iQiyi members, had to pay RMB 12 for viewing, and the viewing period was valid until June 14th. This differentiated pricing model has caused dissatisfaction among many viewers, who question that iQiyi's move is "cutting corners." In response, iQiyi's customer service said, "You can buy tickets to watch the concert live according to your own needs, and the edited content of the concert will be launched on the main platform in the future." In fact, this is not the first time that long video platforms represented by iQiyi have been accused of "cutting corners." In recent years, membership grading systems, early access, and inventory restrictions have often caused user backlash, in addition to paying extra for derivative programs. The differential pricing model reflects the growth anxiety faced by long-form video platforms such as "i优腾."

In today's weather is good. Today's weather is good.

Star Era Meizu, which is in a critical stage of rebirth, is currently striving to make the outside world rediscover itself.

Recently, at the 2024 ChinaJoy (China International Digital Interactive Entertainment Exhibition), Star Era Meizu COO Liao Qinghong further unveiled the mysterious veil of Star Era Meizu's "car-making plan".

Liao Qinghong was originally a senior executive of Xpeng Motors. This is the first media exchange meeting he attended after joining Star Era Meizu in the first half of this year.

Liao Qinghong said that the specific model is not convenient to disclose at present, but it must be built using Geely's latest platform and the most advanced models. It will be launched and delivered this year and will not be in the concept stage.

After Star Era Meizu launched the Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit operating system last year, and announced the launch of the Meizu brand car, the industry believed that its "car-making" model may be similar to the "Huawei model".

It can be confirmed that Star Era Meizu will not personally make cars at present, but will enter the automotive field as an intelligent vehicle system supplier.

It is well known that the threshold for car production is high and the investment is large. Liao Qinghong frankly said that it is now very difficult to obtain automobile production qualifications, which is very challenging. Therefore, at least for now, it will rely on some models of the entire Geely system for deep customization, and take car making as an opportunity rather than a huge risk to bet on.

That is to say, the road of full-chain car building that Lei Jun chose for Xiaomi is too heavy for Star Era Meizu.

In terms of cooperation with car companies, Star Era Meizu will also choose a lighter model.

"Regarding the comparison of Star Era Meizu's car business model with Huawei's Hongmeng Zhixing, Liao Qinghong revealed:" I think the cooperation between Hongmeng and the car company is a strategic-level cooperation, and they need to go deep to create a car, even The name of the car, even the system of the car, I think this is a deep strategic cooperation."

Therefore, unlike Hongmeng Zhixing, Star Era Meizu will place its position lower and more open, and may be more like Huawei's HI solution model.

As Liao Qinghong said, Star Era Meizu's Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit operating system will be more open and will be developed in conjunction with all car companies willing to cooperate.

However, at present, Flyme Auto is mainly installed on Geely series models, such as the Lynk & Co 08, Galaxy E5, and Polestar 4 models.

Because it also has a mobile phone manufacturing gene, Star Era Meizu is inevitably compared with Xiaomi and Huawei to predict the prospects of Star Era Meizu choosing this path.

Obviously, as a pioneer in the mobile phone manufacturer's entry into the car race, both Xiaomi and Huawei have taken a very successful first step.

Liao Qinghong believes that Star Era Meizu's biggest advantage is that it has the Flyme AIOS system. All products can be built on this to form a horizontally extended ecological experience. Huawei and Xiaomi can do this because of their Hongmeng system and Pana system.

Creating a full-scenario ecology is a market with more imagination space than just making phones, and it has become the consensus of terminal device manufacturers today.

After Meizu was acquired by Star Era, which was founded in 2022, the merged Star Era Meizu is looking for a new development path for the future.

Since last year, Star Era Meizu's strategy has gradually become clear, it is clear that it wants to transform from a traditional mobile phone manufacturer to a full-stack intelligent terminal platform for cross-border integration, start to enter the automotive industry, and hope to integrate technologies and products from different fields such as mobile phones, XR, and smart cars.

Star Era Meizu wants to seize any new opportunities brought by the industry. Facing the revolutionary opportunity of the AI large model, Star Era Meizu, the first mobile phone manufacturer to jump out and announce that it will stop traditional smart phone R&D and focus on AI at the beginning of this year, aims to build an AI Device product, rebuild the Flyme system, and build the AI ecosystem.

It is reported that under the Star Trail Meizu AI ecosystem, the multi-terminal fusion scene is centered on building the Flyme application supermodel based on the common models and vertical knowledge base of the three parties. Flyme AIOS, as the core operating system, empowers various application terminals including mobile phones, car systems, and XR. The various terminals are linked through Flyme Link for ecosystem interoperability.

Since the beginning of this year, Star Trail Meizu has repeatedly elaborated on its ideas on AI smartphones and also released related new products. Compared to this, the car business is more mysterious, and this sharing from Liao Qinghong is the first detailed explanation of Star Trail Meizu's development plan for its automobile business.

As a newcomer in the intelligent car system, Star Trail Meizu needs to accelerate its progress in the future.
