Uber, BYD Partner to Bring 100,000 EVs to Ride Hailing Platform Globally

Uber and BYD have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at bringing 100,000 new BYD EVs to the Uber platform, covering key markets around the world.

Ridesharing giant Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) and BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) have entered into a partnership to introduce BYD vehicles on its platform.

Uber and BYD have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at bringing 100,000 new BYD electric vehicles onto Uber's platform across key global markets, according to a statement today.

The partnership, which begins in Europe and Latin America, is expected to provide drivers with pricing and financing for BYD cars on the Uber platform, Uber's statement said.

The partnership will also expand to markets such as the Middle East, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, according to the statement.

Uber has the world's most extensive network of on-demand electric vehicles, while BYD is a global leader in electric vehicle production, the risharing giant said.

The two companies will also work together to develop future BYD self-driving cars and deploy them on the Uber platform.

As the world's largest on-demand mobility and delivery platform, Uber is well positioned to massively roll out self-driving car technology to a global audience, the company said.
