The Nikkei Average fell sharply. The forward transaction was closed at 38094.24 yen (estimated turnover 1.4 billion 20 million shares), which is 1007.58 yen lower (-2.58%) compared to the previous day.

The US stock market rose on July 31. The Dow average closed at 40842.79 dollars (+ 0.24%), the NASDAQ was 451.98 points higher (+ 2.64%) at 17599.40, and the S&P 500 closed at 5522.30, which was 85.86 points higher (+ 1.58%). Ahead of the announcement of the results of the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), it was mixed up after getting close. After that, buying, which was favored by the good financial results of major high-tech companies, led the way, and the market remained steady throughout the day. The US Federal Reserve (Fed) left policy interest rates unchanged as expected in the FOMC, but at the subsequent press conference, the market continued to grow and ended with a sense of expectation that Chairman Powell would suggest the possibility of interest rate cuts in September.

Although US stocks rose, the Tokyo market began trading with a selling advantage since the exchange rate rose to the 149 yen level and the appreciation of the yen and depreciation of the dollar accelerated. After the Nikkei Average was donated 38781.56 yen, the fact that the exchange rate entered the 1 dollar 148 yen range also had an effect, and the decline intensified, and it plummeted to 37737.88 yen, which is approaching the low on 7/26. In response to the sharp drop in the Nikkei Average, the Nikkei Average VI temporarily rose to the 23 point range. The trading price on the Prime Market has risen to 3.2 trillion yen.

Among the stocks adopted by the Nikkei Average, Konica Minolta <4902>, Yamaha <7951>, Mitsubishi Electric <6503>, Panasonic HD <6752>, and Alps Alpine <6770> became dominant in sales. Also, the day before, Bank of Japan Governor Ueda was disgusted by the fact that “if we move in line with the economic/price outlook, interest rates will continue to rise,” and real estate stocks such as Sumitomo Real Estate <8830>, Mitsubishi Estate <8802>, Mitsui Fudosan <8801>, Tokyo Tatemono <8804>, and Tokyu Land Corporation HD <3289> were sold in general.

Meanwhile, financial results and structural reforms were viewed positively, and Advantest <6857>, Sumitomo Pharma <4506>, Socionext <6526>, and Hitachi <6501> were bought. In addition to this, bank stocks such as Resona Holdings <8308>, Fukuoka Financial G <8354>, Concordia Financial <7186>, and Shizuoka Financial Group <5831> are solid.

While all industries were sold, the decline in the real estate industry, transportation equipment, machinery, insurance industry, and electric/gas industry was conspicuous.

The top contributor to price drops became Fast Rette <9983>, which pushed down the Nikkei Average by about 122 yen with 1 stock. The same 2nd place was SoftBank G <9984>, followed by Shin-Etsu <4063>, TDK <6762>, FANUC <6954>, Daiichi Sankyo <4568>, and Toyota Tsusho <8015>.

Meanwhile, the top contributor to price increases became Advantest <6857>, which boosted the Nikkei Average by about 235 yen with 1 stock. Socionext <6526> came in the same 2nd place, followed by NITORI HD <9843>, TOTO <5332>, Hitachi <6501>, Nissin Powder G <2002>, Sumitomo Pharma <4506>, etc.
