Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In Sierra Bancorp

シエラバンコープの内部者売却を無視するべきではありません

Simply Wall St ·  08/01 07:46

Some Sierra Bancorp (NASDAQ:BSRR) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Independent Chairman of the Board, Morris Tharp, recently sold a substantial US$992k worth of stock at a price of US$30.52 per share. However, it's crucial to note that they remain very much invested in the stock and that sale only reduced their holding by 6.0%.

Sierra Bancorp Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent sale by Morris Tharp is the biggest insider sale of Sierra Bancorp shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of US$29.09. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

Does Sierra Bancorp Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Sierra Bancorp insiders own 11% of the company, worth about US$46m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
