FBM KLCI Makes Modest Midday Recovery After Initial Drop

The FBM KLCI opened lower today at 1585.96 points and initially continued to decline. However, gains in KLCI components like PMETAL and AXIATA helped reverse the trend, although the recovery was modest. By midday, the Composite Index had risen slightly to 1,592.03 points, an increase of 0.16 points or 0.01%.

Trading activity has been relatively subdued, with 2.82 million shares changing hands and a transaction value of RM1.54 billion. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia All-Share Index closed at 12,094.60 points, down by 7.10 points.

Market breadth was negative, with 396 stocks advancing, 575 declining, 1,081 remaining unchanged, and 393 not trading. The ringgit saw a slight rebound and was trading at 4.4643 per US dollar as of 12:30 PM.
