We wouldn't blame EVERTEC, Inc. (NYSE:EVTC) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Luis Rodríguez-González, the Executive VP recently netted about US$1.3m selling shares at an average price of US$35.10. Probably the most concerning element of the whole transaction is that the disposal amounted to 78% of their entire holding.

EVERTEC Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The President, Morgan Schuessler, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$5.9m worth of shares at a price of US$37.92 each. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is US$32.22. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

EVERTEC insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Insider Ownership Of EVERTEC

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that EVERTEC insiders own 0.9% of the company, worth about US$19m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
