TruBridge, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:TBRG) Shares Bounce 26% But Its Business Still Trails The Industry

TruBridge、Inc.(NASDAQ:TBRG)の株式が26%反発しましたが、そのビジネスはまだ業種に遅れを取っています

Simply Wall St ·  08/10 09:53

Despite an already strong run, TruBridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:TBRG) shares have been powering on, with a gain of 26% in the last thirty days. Not all shareholders will be feeling jubilant, since the share price is still down a very disappointing 41% in the last twelve months.

Although its price has surged higher, TruBridge may still be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.5x, considering almost half of all companies in the Healthcare Services industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 1.9x and even P/S higher than 5x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

How TruBridge Has Been Performing

While the industry has experienced revenue growth lately, TruBridge's revenue has gone into reverse gear, which is not great. It seems that many are expecting the poor revenue performance to persist, which has repressed the P/S ratio. If this is the case, then existing shareholders will probably struggle to get excited about the future direction of the share price.

Do Revenue Forecasts Match The Low P/S Ratio?

In order to justify its P/S ratio, TruBridge would need to produce sluggish growth that's trailing the industry.

Taking a look back first, we see that there was hardly any revenue growth to speak of for the company over the past year. Regardless, revenue has managed to lift by a handy 24% in aggregate from three years ago, thanks to the earlier period of growth. So it appears to us that the company has had a mixed result in terms of growing revenue over that time.

Looking ahead now, revenue is anticipated to climb by 3.0% during the coming year according to the four analysts following the company. Meanwhile, the rest of the industry is forecast to expand by 9.4%, which is noticeably more attractive.

In light of this, it's understandable that TruBridge's P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It seems most investors are expecting to see limited future growth and are only willing to pay a reduced amount for the stock.

What Does TruBridge's P/S Mean For Investors?

TruBridge's stock price has surged recently, but its but its P/S still remains modest. Using the price-to-sales ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.

As we suspected, our examination of TruBridge's analyst forecasts revealed that its inferior revenue outlook is contributing to its low P/S. Shareholders' pessimism on the revenue prospects for the company seems to be the main contributor to the depressed P/S. Unless these conditions improve, they will continue to form a barrier for the share price around these levels.
