This follows the escalating civil unrest in the region.

$Sembcorp Ind (U96.SG)$ has announced the temporary suspension of operations at its 225MW gas-fired Sembcorp Myingyan Independent Power Plant in Mandalay, Myanmar.

The decision follows the escalating civil unrest in the region, including the township of Myingyan where the plant is located.

In a statement, Sembcorp said that the safety of its employees is its top priority.

The company has also notified the Electric Power Generation Enterprise, a division of Myanmar's Ministry of Electricity and Energy, which has approved the plant's shutdown.

Security measures are being implemented to protect the plant during this period. Sembcorp has also maintained insurance coverage for the plant, particularly for property damage.

"Sembcorp will look to resume operations at the Plant as soon as reasonably practicable once conditions are safe," it said.
