The top rising contributions were First Retailing <9983>, which pushed the Nikkei Stock Average up by about 83 yen with a single stock. The second place was taken by Tohoku Electric <8035>, followed by SoftBank Group <9984>, Chugai Pharmaceutical <4519>, Dentsu Group <4324>, Laser Tech <6920>, and Bandai Namco HD <7832>, etc. On the other hand, the top contributor to the decline was Recruit HD <6098>, declining by about 19 yen in the Nikkei Stock Average with a single stock. The second place was Advantest <6857>, followed by Shin-Etsu Chemical <4063>, Keyence <6861>, Terumo <4543>, Sony Group <6758>, and Murata Manufacturing <6981>, etc.

The US stock market rose on the 14th. The Dow Jones rose 242.75 points (+0.61%) to 40008.39. Nasdaq rose 4.99 points (+0.03%) to 17192.60, and the S&P500 closed at 5455.21 (+20.78 points, +0.38%). With the confirmation of continued inflation slowdown in the July Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the expectation of a rate cut, buying continued after the market opened, followed by a rise. The pessimistic view on the economy retreated and Dow rose and expanded its gain towards the end of the day. Nasdaq barely returned to positive territory and closed.

The Tokyo market opened with a buying trend due to the materialization of real GDP growth in Q2, which increased by 3.1% annually, the first positive growth in two quarters. As the exchange rate returned to the 147 yen level, the Nikkei average rose to the 36,800 yen level, up to the 200-day moving average of 36,984 yen. Although the trading volume decreased compared to last week to the 4 trillion yen level, value stocks such as mega banks were bought, and some voices said that there were purchases due to pension fund rebalancing.

The Nikkei average at the close was 36,726.64 yen, up 284.21 yen (+0.78%) from the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 1.7 billion 50.93 million shares, with a trading value of 4 trillion 403.5 billion yen. Among sectors, the banking industry, securities and commodity futures trading, and petroleum and coal products, marine transportation, non-ferrous metals, and other industries rose, while service industries, air transportation, chemicals, land transportation, electric appliances, and other industries fell. Of the stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market, the number of gainers was 61.8%, compared to 35.0% losers.
