China National Nuclear Power (601985.SH) announced on August 19th that, according to the website of the Central People's Government (), the first phase of the Jiangsu Xupu nuclear heating and power generation project, which has been included in the national plan and undergone a comprehensive safety assessment, was approved on August 19th, 2024 after the meeting of the executive meeting of the State Council.
China Nuclear SuNeng Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. under the company is the owner unit of the approved project, responsible for project investment, construction and operation management. This first-phase project plans to build two 'Hualong One' pressurized water reactor nuclear energy generators (each with a rated power of 1208MW) and one group of high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear energy generators (with a rated power of 660MW), equipped with a steam heat exchange station. After completion, it will have both high-quality steam supply and power generation capabilities under design conditions. At present, various preparatory work before construction is being carried out steadily and in an orderly manner at the construction site.
