According to a market size report by Crypto.com on August 20th, the global cryptocurrency market witnessed a significant increase in holdings during the first half of this year. By June, the number of holders increased by 6.4% from the end of 2023,  reaching 617 million.

This growth can be attributed to key developments in the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystems, particularly the introduction of spot ETH, which is closely tied to these two digital assets.

Bitcoin continues to dominate the cryptocurrency market, with its holdings growing by 5.9% to reach 314 million by mid-year, accounting for 51% of all cryptocurrency holders.

The main catalyst behind BTC’s adoption growth was the launch of US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and Bitcoin’s fourth halving.
