1. Company Overview

PhoenixBio <6190> has set its management philosophy as "contributing to the promotion of people's health by studying life scientifically" and is providing services to support drug discovery for pharmaceutical companies and research institutions around the world.

As of the end of the fiscal year in March 2024 (on a consolidated basis), the total assets were 2,715 million yen, net assets were 1,797 million yen, and the equity ratio was 65.7%. The company is headquartered in Kagamiyama, Higashihiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and the group consists of PhoenixBio itself, its consolidated subsidiary PhoenixBio USA Corporation (USA), KMT Hepatech, Inc. (Canada), and CMHL Consortium LLC (USA). Sowa Shoji Corporation, Mr. Shunichi Morimoto of Sowa Shoji Corporation, Sowa Starch Industrial Co., Ltd., and its subsidiary Specially Immune Research Institute Co., Ltd. are major shareholders but there is no business transaction and the management independence is maintained.

2. History

Epiphenix Co., Ltd. was established in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo in March 2002, and changed its company name to PhoenixBio Co., Ltd. in March 2003. In July 2003, the head office was relocated to Hiroshima University Incubation Center (currently Hiroshima University Industry-Academia Collaboration Center Incubation Office), and in October 2003, the Chimera Mouse Laboratory was established in Hiroshima Techno Plaza (Higashihiroshima City) to start the PXB Mouse business. In March 2007, the head office was relocated to its current location in Kagamiyama, Higashihiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture.

Thereafter, PhoenixBio USA Corporation was established in August 2010, CMHL Consortium LLC was established in January 2016, and KMT Hepatech, Inc. was acquired and fully consolidated in November 2017. In terms of stock relations, the company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers Market in March 2016 and moved from the Mothers Market to the Growth Market due to the revision of the market classification by the Tokyo Stock Exchange in April 2022.
