In the first half of the year, Tibet Mineral Development achieved revenue of 0.392 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.4%; net profit of 0.111 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 338.99%; According to recent disclosures by the company, the 10,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate project started trial production on June 30 this year, with a total cost of 0.0425 million yuan/ton, and a full cost of 0.0241 million yuan/ton after deducting by-products.
On August 20th, Cailian Press (Reporter Zeng Chuchu) achieved the rare combination of revenue and profit growth in the lithium industry with the advantage of low-cost lithium extraction from salt lakes by Tibet Mineral Development (000762.SZ).
Tibet Mineral Development released its semi-annual report tonight, achieving revenue of 0.392 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 38.4%; net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company of 0.111 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 338.99%; net profit after deducting non-recurring gains and losses of 96.3176 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1170.61%.
Regarding the reason for the performance growth, the company stated in the semi-annual report that during the reporting period, the company seized the opportunity of stable and rising prices of chrome ore and adjusted and optimized sales strategies according to the market conditions of lithium carbonate. Sales of chrome ore and lithium concentrates have achieved significant growth compared to the same period last year; Effective cost and expense control by advancing accounting management, and promoting the implementation of preferential policies for corporate income tax, the company's business performance has achieved significant growth.
It is reported that Tibet Mineral Development is engaged in mining and sales of chromite and lithium ore. According to the semi-annual report, the revenue of the company's lithium products and chromite products accounted for 70.03% and 29.47%, respectively, both of which increased significantly by 30.98% and 57.15% year-on-year.
Specifically in the lithium mining business, Tibet Rikaze Zhabuye Lithium High-tech Co., Ltd., a controlling subsidiary responsible for lithium mining, achieved revenue of 0.276 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.66%; net profit of 0.104 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.46%. Tibet Mineral Development stated that this is mainly due to the stable increase in delivery progress of long-term customers of lithium concentrate, while advancing accounting management to effectively control costs and expenses, the implementation of preferential policies for income tax in the region, but the significant year-on-year decline in the price of lithium salt products, has limited the growth of net profit during the reporting period.
Looking at the price, the sliding trend of lithium salt prices has greatly compressed the profit margin of lithium salt companies.
In the first half of this year, the average price of domestic battery-grade lithium carbonate rose to about 0.113 million yuan/ton in mid-March, and fell to a low of 0.0889 million yuan/ton at the end of June, with an overall market average price of about 0.1037 million yuan/ton, a year-on-year decrease of about 69%.
The company owns 50.72% equity in Zhabuye Salt Lake in Tibet. The salt lake is the world's third largest and Asia's largest lithium mine salt lake, with the characteristics of high lithium and low magnesium and rich in lithium carbonate. The resource reserve of lithium carbonate is as high as 1.788 million tons.
Combined with the company's disclosure in the investor research activity, the company currently has a production capacity of about 0.01 million tons of lithium concentrate, using a unique "solar pool crystallization method", with a unit production cost of about 0.01 million yuan/ton during stable production.
Recently, the company announced that the 10,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate project at Zhabuye Salt Lake in Tibet, which uses the efficient recovery of resources such as lithium and potassium in Zhabuye Salt Lake through the membrane separation + evaporation and crystallization process, started trial production on June 30 this year. The designed annual production capacity is 9,600 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate, 2,400 tons of industrial-grade lithium carbonate, 0.156 million tons of potassium chloride, and 200 tons of rubidium cesium mixed salt.
The new production capacity still continues the advantage of low-cost lithium extraction from salt lakes. Tibet Mineral Development previously disclosed that the design of the second phase project is mainly for the extraction of lithium carbonate, with potassium chloride as a supplement; the total cost is 0.0425 million yuan/ton, and the total cost after deducting by-products is 0.0241 million yuan/ton (the cost is almost the same for industrial carbon and electricity carbon).
