Our representative director, vice president and executive officer, Akira Kono, participated in the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) ceremony held in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 21, along with the AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) ministerial meeting. The decarbonization efforts being pursued by our company as an AZEC partner country were introduced. The AZEC ministerial meeting was attended by Ken Saito, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as many Japanese companies, and memos on decarbonization-related efforts with companies and governments in various Asian countries were introduced.
AZEC is a collaboration framework aiming for decarbonization in Asia, consisting of nine ASEAN countries excluding Myanmar, Australia, and Japan. It was established in March 2023, emphasizing "decarbonization through diverse approaches" and the "three-way balance of decarbonization, economic growth, and energy security." The AZEC ministerial meeting is being held for the second time with this occasion.
At the AZEC ministerial meeting, a session was set up to introduce cooperation projects between Japan and AZEC partner countries. Collaborations such as the liquefied CO2 transportation partnership between our company and a subsidiary of the Indonesian state-owned oil company Pertamina, and decarbonization, digital utilization, and maritime workforce development in collaboration with the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority were introduced.
Our company will continue to work with partners in various Asian countries to promote decarbonization.
