Malaysia's Durian Export Could Exceed RM1.8 Billion By 2030

The loveable thorny fruit from Malaysia could see export demand surge by 2030 to RM1.8 billion after recent record showed export has increased by over 200 percent in the past 5 years.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security said durian export reached RM1.14 billion in 2022, marking a new record for the local fruit.

Durian contibutes a total of 58% of total fruits export by the country which is valued at RM2 billion. China remains the highest importer with RM887 millon in 2022.

The figure will take a massive jump, after both nations agreed on the export of fresh durian with the first shipment already on the way to the durian loving nation of 1.4 billion.
