The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closed down 21.69 points, or 1.29%, at 1,653.55, compared to Wednesday's (Aug 28) closing of 1,675.24. The index began the day 2.29 points lower at 1,672.95 and moved between 1,651.73 and 1,684.68 throughout the trading session.

The broader market exhibited weakness, with decliners outpacing gainers by 851 to 316. Additionally, 457 counters remained unchanged, 894 were untraded, and 108 others were suspended.
