On the news front, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation released its interim results, with the company achieving revenue of 26.269 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 23.2%; the net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was 1.646 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 45.1%. It is calculated that the net profit for the second quarter was 1.137 billion yuan, an increase of 123% compared to the previous quarter. The decrease in net profit for the reporting period is mainly due to changes in product mix, increased depreciation, and a decline in investment income and net interest income.

The performance shows that the increase in revenue is mainly due to the increase in wafer sales volume for the period. The revenue from wafer foundry business for the period was 24.108 billion yuan, an increase of 25.7% year-on-year. The quantity of wafers sold (equivalent to 8-inch wafers) increased from 2.655 million pieces in the same period of the previous year to 3.907 million pieces in the current period. Looking ahead to the third quarter, Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation's revenue guidance given in the second quarter report is a sequential increase of 13%-15%, with a gross margin ranging from 18% to 20%.
