Have Insiders Sold Cabot Shares Recently?

Have Insiders Sold Cabot Shares Recently?

We wouldn't blame Cabot Corporation (NYSE:CBT) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Jeff Zhu, the Executive VP recently netted about US$1.6m selling shares at an average price of US$104. That sale reduced their total holding by 15% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Cabot

Notably, that recent sale by Jeff Zhu is the biggest insider sale of Cabot shares that we've seen in the last year. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$104. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

Insider Ownership Of Cabot

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Insiders own 1.4% of Cabot shares, worth about US$77m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.

So What Do The Cabot Insider Transactions Indicate?

An insider hasn't bought Cabot stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases.
