In the second quarter of 2024, the global shipment of AI PCs will reach 8.8 million units, accounting for 14% of total PC shipments. Canalys predicts that the shipment of AI PCs in 2024 will reach 44 million units, and is expected to reach 103 million units in 2025.

According to Chen Junsheng, Chairman and CEO of Acer, Acer plans to significantly increase the shipment of computers with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. By the third quarter of 2025, Acer will increase the market share of Copilot+ PCs to 40% of the total shipments.

According to Canalys data, the global shipment of AI PCs in the second quarter of 2024 was 8.8 million units, accounting for 14% of total PC shipments. It is estimated that the global shipment of AI PCs will reach 44 million units in 2024 and 105 million units in 2025. Currently, with the gradual progress of AI PC plans by major processor suppliers, it is expected that the supply and adoption rate of AIPC will significantly increase in the second half of 2024 and beyond. Ishan Dutt, Principal Analyst at Canalys, said, 'Channel partners have shown a preference for AI PC related features. In the May channel survey, nearly 60% of respondents stated that they expect consumers to prefer devices with Copilot.'

The global PC market showed signs of recovery in the second quarter of 2024, with desktop and laptop shipments growing by 3.4% year-on-year to reach 62.8 million units. Among them, Apple's Mac performed particularly well, with a 6% year-on-year growth in shipments, significantly higher than the overall PC market. Currently, Lenovo, HP, and Dell remain the top three in the global PC market.

The three major PC manufacturers have released impressive quarterly results. Specifically, Lenovo achieved a revenue of $15.447 billion in Q1 of the 2025 fiscal year, a year-on-year increase of 19.74%; its net income attributable to shareholders was $0.243 billion, a year-on-year increase of 38.25%. The proportion of non-PC business reached nearly 47%, reaching a new historical high. In this fiscal quarter, Lenovo Group's core PC business accounted for nearly 23% of the global market share, with an operating profit margin of 8.8% and a high-end product proportion of 31.6%. According to the latest statistics from Canalys, Lenovo's AI PC shipments increased by as much as 228% month-on-month.

Dell Technologies' overall net revenue for the second quarter was $25.03 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $24.12 billion. Infrastructure solution revenue for the second quarter was $11.65 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $10.58 billion. Adjusted earnings per share for the second quarter were $1.89, exceeding analysts' expectations of $1.71. Adjusted operating profit for the second quarter was $2.03 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $1.85 billion.

In the third fiscal quarter, HP's net revenue reached $13.52 billion, surpassing analysts' expectations of $13.37 billion. The revenue of its personal systems division in the third fiscal quarter was $9.37 billion, surpassing analysts' expectations of $9.15 billion. The adjusted operating profit margin in the third fiscal quarter was 8.1%, lower than the analysts' expectation of 8.6%. The adjusted earnings per share in the third fiscal quarter were $0.83, lower than the analysts' expectation of $0.86. It is expected that the adjusted earnings per share in the fourth fiscal quarter will be between $0.89 and $0.99, while analysts' expectation is $0.95.

In addition, on July 9, 2024, Asus and Acer announced their performance for June 2024, both showing a growth trend, mainly benefiting from the end-of-quarter pull and the shipment of new AIPC products. Asus achieved a revenue of 58.412 billion New Taiwan Dollars in June, a month-on-month growth of 30.32% and a year-on-year growth of 21.48%, reaching a new high in 21 months. Acer's revenue in June was 28.193 billion New Taiwan Dollars, a month-on-month growth of 33.4% and a year-on-year growth of 7.1%, reaching a new high in 24 months, and maintaining a year-on-year growth trend in monthly revenue for 12 consecutive months.

Haitong Securities believes that the penetration rate of AI PC in the future is promising, and 2024 may become the first year of AI PC. The development of AI promotes the vigorous rise of AI PC, AI servers, AI phones and other products in the market. In the wave of the overall AI era, attention should be paid to the domestic AI PC supply chain. Jianghai Securities' Zhou Biao research report pointed out that according to Counterpoint, the global PC shipment volume in the second quarter of 2024 increased by 3.1% year-on-year, achieving two consecutive quarters of year-on-year growth. With the gradual launch of AIPC and the increase in market share of Windows on ARM PC, it is expected that the PC industry will usher in a small peak of replacement machines. It is recommended to pay attention to Leshan Technology, as well as related industry chain companies such as Suzhou Chunqiu Electronic Technology, Huaying Technology, and Great Wall Technology.
