Bursa Malaysia Index Declines Following YTL Power News

Business Today ·  Sep 5 01:25

The Malaysian stock market struggled to maintain its upward momentum. Following YTL Power's (YTLPOWR) confirmation that its subsidiary, YTL Telecom, is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission, the share prices of both YTL entities declined. This caused the KLCI to shift from an early rise to a drop in trading. At the close of the market at 12:30 PM, the Composite Index stood at 1,668.84 points, reflecting a modest decrease of 1.40 points or 0.09%.

During the half-day trading session, the market saw a volume of 2,088,119,200 shares traded, amounting to a transaction value of RM1,654,733,042. The FBM Bursa Malaysia All-Share Index ended at 12,391.25 points, down by 37.51 points. Among the stocks, 293 advanced, 664 declined, 877 remained unchanged, and 630 had no trading activity.

As of 12:30 PM, the ringgit was valued at 4.3337 per US dollar.
