Author | Huang Yu Editor | Liu Baodan Last year, thanks to the success of the "Speeding" on iQiyi, the company has had a difficult time recently. On the one hand, the explosively popular TV series is on hiatus, and on the other hand, the derivative concert of the variety show "Plant Some Goodness" has been criticized for "free offline but paid online." According to Wall Street News, the second Wheat Field Music Festival, produced by iQiyi's reality show "Plant Some Goodness," was held on June 6th. Some viewers had previously received free offline tickets through official activities, while online viewers, even iQiyi members, had to pay RMB 12 for viewing, and the viewing period was valid until June 14th. This differentiated pricing model has caused dissatisfaction among many viewers, who question that iQiyi's move is "cutting corners." In response, iQiyi's customer service said, "You can buy tickets to watch the concert live according to your own needs, and the edited content of the concert will be launched on the main platform in the future." In fact, this is not the first time that long video platforms represented by iQiyi have been accused of "cutting corners." In recent years, membership grading systems, early access, and inventory restrictions have often caused user backlash, in addition to paying extra for derivative programs. The differential pricing model reflects the growth anxiety faced by long-form video platforms such as "i优腾."

In the past three years, the entire Tencent Cloud has undergone a transformation, including the game cloud.

On September 6, 2024, at the Tencent Global Digital Ecological Conference game special session, Tencent Cloud announced the full upgrade of the game cloud's full life cycle solution, providing comprehensive research and operation guarantees for games.

Behind the full upgrade of Tencent Game Cloud's full life cycle solution is to help game developers cope with the greater industry challenges of today.

In recent years, in the face of an increasingly competitive game market, game developers need to pay more attention to the high-quality development of games, including strengthening their capabilities in research and development support, network services, and data system construction. Consequently, major game developers will also face multiple cost pressures and technical challenges at various stages of game development, testing, release, operation, and growth.

Chen Liang, the General Manager of Industry Technology at Tencent Cloud, stated that based on the experience and capabilities accumulated by Tencent Games and Tencent Cloud, Tencent Cloud will provide comprehensive support throughout the entire process from research and development to operation for game companies, ensuring smooth progress and successful implementation of game projects.

Specifically, during the research and development testing phase, Tencent Cloud provides services such as game databases, social features, AI, development management, anti-cheating measures, as well as compatibility and performance optimization. During the launch phase, Tencent Cloud offers services such as game-native elastic scalable network security, game acceleration, performance crash monitoring, and intellectual property protection, helping game companies improve deployment success rates, control cost expenditures, and provide a robust defense line with a wide range of protection products for game security.

During the final stage of operation and growth, Tencent Cloud also provides a series of private domain operation services to game companies, including data operation, gaming compliance, user research, and knowledge community, helping clients tap into consumer potential, and extend the lifespan of games.

Chen Liang pointed out that when a game developer or related company encounters a problem at a certain stage, it may not always find a suitable solution immediately. Therefore, Tencent Cloud has been working on the entire life cycle for more than three years, constantly enriching the challenges, problems, and solutions that may be encountered in the game life cycle.

However, Chen Liang also admitted, 'Objectively speaking, the (whole life cycle solution) cannot be 100% comprehensive. There is still a lot of room for improvement and the matrix we are currently working on is the whole life cycle.'

In the future, Tencent Games Cloud will undoubtedly continue to iterate on the whole life cycle solution, assisting more game developers in facing industry challenges and competing in the global market.
