The Mitsubishi Chemical Group (hereinafter “our group”) has agreed with the company to transfer the triacetate fiber business to GSI Creos Co., Ltd., and the final agreement was signed as of today.
1. Background and Objective
The Group targets key markets based on major global trends and is promoting portfolio management focusing on market growth potential, competitiveness, and sustainability.
Triacetate fiber is a semi-synthetic fiber made by chemically treating plant fibers derived from natural pulp, and is produced only by our group in the world. It has been highly praised by the domestic and international apparel markets due to its material characteristics, and since a certain increase in demand can be expected in the future, it was determined that it would be best to continue growing the business under the best owners, and decided to transfer the business recently.
2. Overview of the business to be transferred
  • Manufacture and sale of triacetate fiber (brand name: Soaron) raw yarn and raw materials
 Production base: Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation Toyama Plant (3 Kaigan-dori, Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture)
  • Ryoko Sizing Co., Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of our group that processes raw yarn for triacetate fibers)
 Production base: 1-2 3-5 Omizo, Awara City, Fukui Prefecture
・Triacetate fiber applications: medium and high-end women's clothing, formal clothing, office uniforms, etc.
3. Outline of the transfer destination
・Company name: GSI Creos Co., Ltd.
・Location: Shibakoen First Building 16th Floor, 3-8-2 Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo
・Capital: 7.1 billion 86 million yen
・Consolidated sales: 146.1 billion 94 million yen (fiscal year ending 2024/3)
・Consolidated number of employees: 658
・Business description: Textile business such as various yarns and fabrics, inner/outer products, etc.; industrial products business such as machinery, chemicals, hobby products, semiconductor-related products, carbon nanotubes, etc.
