Maxell <6810> announced that it will invest about 5 billion yen to strengthen the production facilities and expand the building of its Ono plant (Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture). It aims to increase the production of primary batteries for medical devices, which are expected to have increased demand in the future, and plans to double the production capacity of primary batteries for medical devices from the current level (as of July 2024) by the middle of fiscal year 2027.
Maxell's Ono plant mainly produces primary batteries such as alkaline button batteries, silver oxide batteries, and coin-shaped lithium batteries, which are used in small medical devices. It is expected that the demand for primary batteries for medical devices will increase globally in the future.
This investment is part of the approximately 35 billion yen growth investment during the period of the medium-term management plan MEX26, which was announced on June 5. The company aims to continue providing reliable batteries that meet diverse needs and contribute to the development of society.
