MPEG's Volume-based Video Coding (V3C) standard defines a common mechanism for encoding and streaming volumetric content using two primary codecs: Video Point Cloud Compression (V-PCC) and MPEG Immersive Video (MIV). InterDigital is a major contributor to both of these codecs. These codecs can be widely applied in various scenarios that enhance immersive experiences, from entertainment and leisure to remote learning, as well as increasingly used in live broadcasting and esports, ensuring users can enjoy efficient, stable, and seamless large-scale viewing experiences on various devices. InterDigital's collaboration with royal philips and Technicolor has introduced Technicolor's advanced HDR solution, a suite of high dynamic range (HDR) production, distribution, and display solutions that maximize image quality for any HDR format using machine learning. To ensure that traditional SDR content meets modern HDR standards, InterDigital has contributed to advanced HDR capabilities, supporting seamless integration of SDR and HDR content in a single workflow while reducing costs through automated conversion.
