① The downstream tire industry is prosperous, and Quechen Silicon Chemical's main products have both production and sales. In the second quarter of 2024, the sales volume of silicon dioxide reached a new historical high. ② Quechen Silicon Chemical Chairman Que Weidong introduced that silicon dioxide microspheres have many applications and are an important part of the company's import substitution strategy.

According to Cailianshe, the downstream tire industry is prosperous, and Quechen Silicon Chemical (605183.SH) has both production and sales of its main products, and continues to explore new application scenarios. At the semi-annual performance briefing held today, Quechen Silicon Chemical Chairman Que Weidong stated that the company's newly built microsphere products have wide applications and are also an important part of the company's import substitution strategy.

In the second quarter of 2024, the sales volume of silicon dioxide was 0.0895 million tons, an increase of 22.34% year-on-year and an increase of 2.94% compared to the previous quarter, reaching a new high for a single quarter.

Company Secretary Wang Jin stated that the rapid growth of the domestic downstream tire industry has directly driven the demand for the company's main product, high-dispersion silicon dioxide, due to the increase in sales volume of leading green tires. In addition, the technical level of domestic green tires has been developing rapidly, and the proportion of high-dispersion silicon dioxide added to a single tire is gradually increasing.

Wang Jin further stated that the increasing demand for high-dispersion products of new models of green tires from international customers has gradually contributed to the increase in sales volume, as well as the strong demand for low-carbon biomass high-dispersion products. In addition, the capacity utilization rate of the Thai factory has significantly improved, the international supply chain system has been further secured, and overseas sales continue to grow.

Regarding investors' concerns about the production and sales of new products, Wang Jin stated that in the first half of 2024, the company's biomass (rice husk) high-dispersion silicon dioxide has achieved large-scale commercial supply. The certification work of major customers in the international tire industry has been gradually completed in the past two years. It is expected that the technological transformation project will be completed by the end of 2024.

Independent Director Wang Jing added that the company's silicon dioxide products for toothpaste have achieved large-scale commercial supply, and the market development and cultivation of new market-entry products such as oral care industry series products are new areas of focus for the company. The silicon dioxide products for silicone rubber are greatly affected by the overall environment and the demand from downstream silicone industry, and their growth rate is relatively slower, but the market development is still ongoing.

As for the new silicon microsphere project, Quechen Silicon Chemical Chairman Que Weidong introduced that silicon dioxide microspheres have many applications, and the microsphere products produced by the project will mainly be used in purification processes in fields such as biopharmaceuticals and synthetic biology, as well as in the cosmetic raw materials field. The microsphere products are also an important part of the company's import substitution strategy.

In terms of production capacity, as of the first half of 2024, the company has three domestic production bases in Wuxi, Chuzhou, and Sanming, and one overseas production base in Thailand. On August 22, the company announced its intention to invest 0.5 billion yuan to build a 3044 ton/year silicon dioxide microsphere, a 0.5 million liter/year agar microsphere, and a 1590 ton/year by-product sodium carbonate project (microsphere project).
