Solar District Cooling Group Berhad (SDCG) has announced a new collaboration agreement with Sunrise Shares Energy Sdn Bhd (SSE), a company specialising in renewable energy products and solutions. This partnership aims to enhance the adoption of renewable energy solutions and sustainability advisory services across various sectors in Malaysia.
SDCG and its subsidiaries primarily focus on providing and maintaining Building Management Systems (BMS), solar thermal systems, and energy-saving services. With a strong track record in improving energy efficiency across the healthcare, hospitality, and industrial sectors, SDCG Group is actively engaged in offering energy performance services to concession companies providing hospital support services for public hospitals. The concessionaires have enlisted SDCG Group as a subcontractor to execute energy efficiency projects, including the installation of hybrid solar thermal hot water systems and retrofitting fluorescent lighting with LED lighting.
The collaboration will allow both companies to jointly deliver energy solutions to their respective clients. SDCG will utilise its expertise in BMS, solar thermal systems, and energy efficiency services, while SSE will promote its range of commercial solar panels, solar-powered streetlights, and battery energy storage systems. Together, they aim to provide comprehensive solutions to enhance energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and meet sustainability objectives.
In addition to energy solutions, both companies will offer joint sustainability advisory services, assisting clients in obtaining green building certifications and low-carbon certifications, as well as promoting sustainable development strategies. This collaboration will also enable both firms to explore new business opportunities through joint ventures, co-marketing initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
Edison Kong, Managing Director of SDCG, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "We are delighted to partner with Sunrise Shares Energy Sdn Bhd to drive the adoption of renewable energy and sustainable practices in Malaysia. This partnership allows us to combine our strengths and offer energy solutions that can help our clients achieve their energy efficiency and sustainability goals. Together, we aim to make a significant contribution to the country's transition towards a greener economy."
Matt Tan, Director of SSE, added, "This collaboration presents an exciting opportunity to expand our reach and capabilities in the renewable energy market. By working with SDCG, we can deliver a wider range of energy solutions to our clients, ensuring that they benefit from both advanced renewable energy products and energy-efficient systems."
On the eve of its listing, SDCG secured two contracts valued at RM8.13 million from Mitrajaya Construction Sdn Bhd for work on Avisena Healthcare's 11-storey hospital in Shah Alam, which is expected to be completed by May 2027.
This strategic collaboration and the projects secured reflect the increasing demand for sustainable energy and energy efficiency solutions in Malaysia, with both companies committed to providing innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions to meet market needs.
