Boeing's largest union said negotiations with the aircraft manufacturer had been interrupted because the two sides failed to reach an agreement that could resolve the strike.
No progress has been made on the pension issue, and the company “will not have substantial contacts” on issues such as raising wages and speeding up wage growth, the International Association of Mechanics and Aeronautics said in an announcement on Friday evening. The association said that no further talks have been scheduled at this time.
The two sides disagree over the wages and other claims of some 33,000 union members. Workers have been on strike since September 13, bringing the Boeing plant near Seattle to a standstill.
On September 13, workers held protest slogans outside the Boeing manufacturing plant during a strike in Renton, Washington, USA.
“We remain committed to rebuilding our relationships with our employees and are negotiating in good faith, hoping to reach an agreement as soon as possible,” Boeing said in a statement after the negotiations ended. “We are ready to meet anytime.”
