Maruha Nichiro Corporation (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Noritaka Sumimoto) will release approximately 10,000 juvenile fish such as rockfish with the cooperation of local fishery cooperatives and stakeholders on the west coast of the Izu Peninsula facing Suruga Bay as part of its contribution activities to the local community.
Within the Maruha Nichiro Group, we are working on promoting environmental initiatives under the theme of 'Smiling Earth.'
This activity is based on the theme of 'Smiling Earth' and was initiated by our late founder Kazuo Mori in 1996 to protect and preserve the rich global environment, the local community, and the smiles of future generations. This year marks the 26th time, with a total of approximately 430,000 juvenile fish released so far. We will continue to work towards supporting 'conservation and cultivation of marine resources' and 'revitalization of the local fishery and tourism industry.'
On the day, children from local kindergartens will also assist. Prior to the release, a food education mini-lecture targeting children will be held at a local kindergarten in Nishi-Izu town, where they will learn about the ecology of the rockfish to be released and our company. Additionally, we will inform the local residents near the release and offer our products as gifts to those who visit us. Details are as follows:
