Olympus Corporation (Olympus) will sequentially release a new outpatient imaging platform, VISERA S, integrating the stroboscopy*1 observation function and the NBI*2 observation function, in some regions of European index and asia-oceania from September 2024. For other regions, it will be introduced as preparations for compliance with local regulations are completed.

VISERA S is an endoscopy system for outpatient patients that provides clear images using Olympus' advanced optical technology. By supporting early detection of diseases such as cancer and visualizing important tissue changes, it contributes to high-quality diagnosis. With the release of this product, Olympus aims to improve patient outcomes by enhancing the standards of care pathways such as early detection, diagnosis, stage classification, treatment, and prognosis.

*1An examination in the otolaryngology field that uses a strobe to observe vocal cord vibration.

※2 NBI = Narrow Band Imaging. It is a method of observation that makes it easier to observe fine blood vessels and their patterns on mucous surfaces, emphasizing tissues by irradiating two narrow-band lights that are easily absorbed by hemoglobin in the blood.

*3This product mainly caters to otolaryngology, urology, and obstetrics and gynecology.

※In Japan, the products are not for sale, grant, or loan at the time of release due to being unapproved pharmaceutical and medical devices under the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act.

Details of the main features

1. Contribute to reliable diagnosis by achieving high image quality.

"VISERA S" has improved color reproducibility and depth compared to Olympus' conventional models, and is designed to display fine vascular structures with a clear NBI observation mode that minimizes noise. The improvement in color reproducibility and LED light source enhances the contrast and visibility of blood vessels and mucosa, contributing to more precise observations and detection of lesion areas.

2. Integrated video system and stroboscopic light source to improve operability and diagnostic accuracy.

This product has integrated a video system and a stroboscopic observation light source. This enables switching between white light observation and stroboscopic observation with the touch of a button, contributing to improved operability and diagnostic accuracy.

With support for HD camera heads, it enables precise inspections.

VISERA S is also compatible with Olympus' HD camera heads, enhancing equipment compatibility in medical institutions and contributing to achieving precise inspections for various patients and cases.

By improving the inspection record storage function, it supports efficient follow-up of patients.

While conventional Olympus models could only save still images, VISERA S allows for high-quality still image storage and video recording, enabling clearer records and supporting comprehensive report creation. This aims to streamline patient follow-up processes such as diagnosis and postoperative observations.
