On October 1st, emerging car companies successively announced last month's delivery situation. Li Auto Inc., Leapmotor, and Xpeng all set new delivery records, while Nio Inc. has achieved over 20,000 deliveries for five consecutive months, with only the NIO ES8 yet to emerge from a decline.
In September, Li Auto Inc. delivered 53,709 new vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 48.94%, setting a new delivery record. In the third quarter, 152,831 vehicles were delivered, a year-on-year increase of 45.4%, with a total of 341,812 units delivered this year.
As of September 30th, Li Auto Inc.'s historical cumulative delivery volume has reached 975,176 units, and it will welcome the offline production and delivery of the 1 millionth new vehicle in October. This will be the first millionth milestone for a new Chinese electric vehicle company. "One million vehicles not only represent sales figures but also signify a new stage in the development of new energy vehicles towards intelligence, especially the advancement of intelligent driving technology," said Li Xiang, chairman of Li Auto Inc. The R&D investment of Li Auto Inc. is driving technological equality, "Our products are being OTA upgraded at an average rate of one version per month, and the new LiDAR with VLM system for autonomous driving has commenced a large-scale testing with thousands of participants."
Leapmotor, ranked second, delivered 33,767 new vehicles in September, a year-on-year increase of 113.72%. While achieving a new monthly delivery record for the company, the deliveries have exceeded 0.03 million units for two consecutive months. From January to September, Leapmotor has delivered a total of 172,861 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 94.6%.
Leapmotor is frequently active in overseas markets. On September 24th, Leapmotor's C10 and T03 were officially launched in Europe, accompanied by a global media test drive event in Milan, Italy, marking Leapmotor's official debut in Europe. On October 14th, the brand new B series of Leapmotor's first model, the B10, will be officially unveiled at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, and the B series will also launch multiple models in 2025. According to the plan, Leapmotor International will release at least one new model each year in the next three years and will increase its global sales network to 350 outlets in the fourth quarter with the help of Stellantis' distribution channels.
With the sales contribution of the first model MONA M03 under its second brand MONA, Xpeng delivered over 20,000 vehicles in a single month after an 8-month break, surpassing Nio. Xpeng delivered 21,352 new vehicles in September, a year-on-year increase of 39.46% and a month-on-month increase of 52.12%; from January to September, a total of 98,561 new vehicles were delivered, a year-on-year increase of 21.02%.
On August 27, Xpeng MONA M03 was officially launched, achieving a delivery volume of over ten thousand units within the first complete month of delivery. According to industry sources, the daily order volume for M03 may exceed 2,000 units.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman of Xpeng, stated that Xpeng plans to launch the first model P7+ of the new generation autonomous driving hardware platform in the fourth quarter. "The delivery of MONA M03 and P7+ will significantly expand Xpeng's market share, and Xpeng is confident in achieving a significant increase in delivery volume quarter-on-quarter in the third and fourth quarters of this year, setting a new delivery record in the fourth quarter."
Similar to Xpeng, Nio is also looking forward to a surge in delivery volume brought by the new brand. In September, Nio delivered 21,181 new vehicles, with a total of 149,281 new vehicles delivered from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 35.72%. Among them, the Nio brand delivered 20,349 new vehicles in September, a year-on-year increase of 30.1%, surpassing 20,000 vehicles for the fifth consecutive month. In the third quarter of this year, the Nio brand delivered a total of 61,023 new vehicles, achieving a new quarterly delivery record.
The first model L60 of Ledao brand started delivery on September 28th, with a total of 832 units delivered. Although the order quantity was not disclosed, according to Nio Chairman William Li, Ledao L60 was "sold out" on the day of its release. Nio stated that the production and delivery of Ledao brand will accelerate in October. Up to now, Ledao has established 125 stores nationwide, covering 57 cities, with plans to add 55 more in October, reaching 180 stores.
Nio, which is still in a dormant period, delivered 10,118 new vehicles in September, a year-on-year decrease of 23.41% and a month-on-month decrease of 8.06%, with two consecutive months of declines in both year-on-year and month-on-month comparisons.
Similarly eyeing the overseas market, Nio entered Brazil on September 30th, with over 30 distribution stores established in the Brazilian market covering major sales areas of first, second, and third-tier cities. It is expected that by 2025, the number of Nio stores in Brazil will double. Over the next two years, Nio plans to expand its global sales network to cover 50 countries and regions, establishing 500 overseas sales and service points.
